HOW TO GET THERE
Hervey Bay is a 3½ hour drive north of Brisbane, on the east coast travellers route between Sydney and Cairns. Oz Experience or any of the major coach operators have daily transfers to and from Hervey Bay. Also accessible via rail and direct flights from Brisbane and Sydney.
Rainbow Beach is approximately 3 hours drive north of Brisbane.
COACH PICK-UP / DROP OFF TIMES
Courtesy coach transfers are available from your accommodation. Approximate pick up and drop off times are listed below, with specific times for each location to be confirmed at the time of booking.
Hervey Bay: pick ups from 7.20 - 8.10am / drop off next day from 5.00 - 5.30pm.
Rainbow Beach: pick ups from 8.00 - 8.20am / drop off next day from 4.30 - 5.00pm.
WHAT TO BRING
You'll need to have a day pack ready when you board the bus for the first day's tour - don't forget to pack swimwear, towel, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, camera, water bottle and comfortable walking shoes. Beach sandals or similar footwear are adequate for all the walks.
The 2 day tour is all-inclusive however you may wish to bring some money for drinks, souvenirs or optional activities, eg- scenic flight. You'll also need to present any travel vouchers or payments for the tour, as well as the National Park Permit Levy (payable by cash or credit card).
CLIMATE
Average summer temperature 29°C (86°F), average winter temperature 22°C (72°F). Bring warmer clothing for cool winter nights.
EURONG BEACH RESORT
The absolute beachfront position on Fraser Island's famous Seventy-Five Mile Beach makes Eurong Beach Resort the perfect base for exploring Fraser.
The resort has two swimming pools, tennis courts, a bakery café, guest laundry and a general store which stocks groceries, drinks & snacks, souvenirs, film, fishing gear, fuel etc.
The modern restaurant and bar overlook the large free-form swimming pool. In the evening enjoy the party atmosphere at the Beach Bar, which has a jukebox, pool tables, happy hours, nightly games and entertainment.
ACCOMMODATION
Fraser Explorer Tours offer a range of accommodation to suit all types of travellers - singles, couples, families or small groups. You have the choice of standard quad-share or twin/double rooms, or for a little extra you can upgrade to a quad-share apartment or twin/double motel room. All rooms have a private bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities.
The standard Fraser Explorer Tour includes spacious motel-style accommodation - quad rooms have two double bunks, and twin rooms have a double and a single bed. Each motel room has a private bathroom with shower and tea/coffee making facilities.
If you're travelling with friends or family, upgrade to a quad-share two-bedroom apartment. These roomy apartments have a double bedroom, twin bedroom, full kitchen and bathroom, lounge room with TV and a private balcony.
Couples can upgrade to Coral Sea or Tradewinds motel-style accommodation. These modern, spacious rooms contain a queen bed plus a single bed, private bathroom with shower, kitchenette, TV, telephone and a private balcony.
MEALS
All set meals are included in your Fraser Explorer Tour.
Lunch on the first day is a BBQ at the resort's Beach Bar, including steak, sausages, fish, veggie patties, bread rolls and a variety of salads.
Dinner is buffet style at the resort, and alternates between 3 themes - Aussie, Mexican or Mediterranean, all with soup, hot and cold dishes, dessert, tea & coffee.
In the morning a hot & continental buffet breakfast is served in the main restaurant from 6.30 - 8.00am. Breakfast includes cereal, toast & condiments, fresh fruit, bacon & eggs, sausages, baked beans, hash browns, juice, tea & coffee.
For those returning to Hervey Bay on the second day, lunch is at Eurong Beach Resort - a hot & cold buffet including soup, bread, salads (green, potato or pasta), cold meats, fish and a hot dish, plus dessert, tea & coffee.
For those returning to Rainbow Beach, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch on tour to allow for the extra traveling time. This includes fresh bread rolls with cold meats and salad, fruit, muesli bars, juice & water.
OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES
Air Fraser operate scenic flights over Fraser Island. These can be booked during the tour, weather and tide permitting. Ask your guide for details.
